Founded in 1987 as a commercial real estate finance company, Johnson Capital grew nationally, became a HUD MAP and Ginnie Mae/Freddie Mac correspondent lender, and built a track record serving institutional relationships across the country. In 2025, the firm relaunched as an independent, tech-forward advisory platform built for speed and execution.

Guy Johnson establishes Johnson Capital as a commercial real estate finance company, focusing on building relationships with institutional lenders.
1990s
National Expansion
Strong presence established in West and Southwest regions. Long-standing relationships built with life insurance companies, banks, and CMBS conduits. Begins correspondent partnership with Walker & Dunlop.
2000s
Industry Leadership
Approved HUD MAP lender nationally. Ginnie Mae issuer status achieved. Originates Freddie Mac multifamily loans. Guy Johnson serves on key industry boards.
2010–2014
National Scale
Averages $1.3 billion in annual commercial loan originations. Manages $580 million HUD servicing portfolio. Recognized as top mortgage banking correspondent.

Strategic Acquisition
Walker & Dunlop (NYSE: WD) acquires Johnson Capital's loan origination and servicing platform. Guy Johnson joins as Vice Chairman of Capital Markets.

Morgan Johnson
Managing Partner
Morgan brings commercial real estate finance and capital advisory experience across debt, joint venture equity, and structured finance. Prior to Johnson Capital, he held roles at George Smith Partners and Talonvest Capital, supporting the structuring and execution of financing solutions across a range of property types and capital sources. His experience spans underwriting, capital sourcing, transaction execution, and client advisory. He holds a BBA in Finance from Chapman University.
Micah Look
Partner
Micah brings commercial real estate capital markets experience focused on debt and equity placement, structured finance, and capital sourcing. Prior to Johnson Capital, he worked in Debt & Structured Finance at George Smith Partners, supporting the evaluation and execution of financing strategies across a range of property types and capital structures. His experience spans underwriting, transaction execution, and relationship development. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Real Estate Development from the University of Southern California.
Garret Billhofer
Partner
Garret brings principal-side investment and capital markets experience across commercial real estate private equity, credit, and structured finance. Prior to joining Johnson Capital, he evaluated and executed investments across the capital stack at Kairos Investment Management, following roles in office and industrial investment at Harbor Associates and Debt & Structured Finance at JLL. His experience spans acquisitions, underwriting, transaction execution, and asset management. He is a graduate of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.
